Timed diagnostic

Before you take the assessment

This is a single timed sitting whose job is to produce an honest baseline. It is worth nothing if it is taken in pieces, so read these first.

  • It runs in full screen. The test takes over the screen when it starts, the way the real computer-based test does.
  • Leaving it is counted. Switching away is recorded and warned about; the third time, the paper is submitted for you.
  • The clock runs for 30 minutes. Set aside that long, uninterrupted. It starts when you begin, keeps running if you close the tab, and submits the paper at zero.
  • 3 timed sections. Each section has its own limit, and a section you have finished cannot be returned to.

About this test

About the IPMAT Indore Assessment Test

The IPMAT Indore Assessment Test on Aptitude360 is a free, medium-level practice test with 30 questions to be solved in 30 minutes. MCQs carry +4 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong one, while Short Answer questions carry +4 for a correct answer with no negative marking. This marking follows the IIM Indore pattern given on the site's exam page. The difficulty matches a typical real-paper level, and the test is in English.

Test pattern and marking

  • Quantitative Ability (Short Answer): 5 questions, 10 minutes, +4 for a correct answer, no negative marking. All 5 need a typed answer.
  • Quantitative Ability (MCQ): 10 questions, 10 minutes, +4 for a correct answer, −1 for a wrong answer.
  • Verbal Ability: 15 questions, 10 minutes, +4 for a correct answer, −1 for a wrong answer.

Each section has its own timer, and the section times add up to 30 minutes. Every MCQ has 4 options.

Topics covered

The Short Answer section covers Algebra, Number System, Time and Work, Permutation and Combination, and Geometry. The MCQ section focuses on Algebra, along with Surds and Indices, Quadratic Equations, Geometry, Probability, Profit, Loss and Discount, and Venn Diagrams. Verbal Ability includes Reading Comprehension, Synonyms and Antonyms, Fill in the Blanks, Sentence Improvement, Para Jumbles, Idioms and Phrases, One Word Substitution, Error Spotting and Analogy.

Every question shows its question type in square brackets at the top, for example [Reading Comprehension], [Para Jumble], [Short Answer (type your answer)] and [Synonyms & Antonyms], so you can see which part of the real exam pattern each question follows.

Key formulas to revise

  • Sum of roots of \(ax^{2}+bx+c=0\): \(-\dfrac{b}{a}\)
  • Product of roots: \(\dfrac{c}{a}\)
  • Law of indices: \(a^{m}\times a^{n}=a^{m+n}\)
  • Combinations: \({}^{n}C_{r}=\dfrac{n!}{r!\,(n-r)!}\)
  • Two-set Venn diagram: \(n(A\cup B)=n(A)+n(B)-n(A\cap B)\)
  • Profit percentage: \(\dfrac{SP-CP}{CP}\times 100\)

Who should take this test

This test suits IPMAT Indore aspirants who want a timed, section-wise practice round at real-paper difficulty. It is useful for checking speed in Short Answer quant, accuracy under negative marking in MCQs, and pace in a 15-question verbal section with only 10 minutes.

How to use the solutions

Every question in this test has the correct answer and a short worked solution. After you submit, review wrong and skipped questions first, note which topic each belongs to, and revise those topics before your next attempt on Aptitude360.
