About the XAT Assessment Test
The XAT Assessment Test on Aptitude360 is a free practice test of 30 multiple-choice questions to be solved in 30 minutes. It is set at medium level, typical of the real paper, and uses +1 for a correct answer and −0.25 for a wrong answer. Every question has five options and is in English. The General Knowledge part (Part 2) is not included, because it is mostly current affairs and is not counted in the XAT score.
Test pattern and marking
- Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning: 10 questions, 10 minutes, +1 correct, −0.25 wrong
- Decision Making: 9 questions, 9 minutes, +1 correct, −0.25 wrong
- Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation: 11 questions, 11 minutes, +1 correct, −0.25 wrong
On Aptitude360 each section has its own timer as a pacing aid, and the section times add up to 30 minutes; the real XAT has no sectional time limit, so these section times are only a suggested pace.
Topics covered
Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning includes Reading Comprehension, Critical Reasoning, Para Jumbles, Fill in the Blanks, Para Completion and Error Spotting. Decision Making has managerial caselets and analytical decision-making sets. Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation covers Data Interpretation, Profit, Loss & Discount, Time & Work, Average, Inequalities & Modulus, Progressions, Mensuration, Coordinate Geometry and Permutation & Combination.
Every question shows its question type in square brackets at the top, for example [Decision Making], [Critical Reasoning], [Reading Comprehension] and [Data Interpretation], so you can see which part of the real exam pattern each question follows.
Key formulas to revise
- Percentage change: \( \dfrac{\text{New} - \text{Old}}{\text{Old}} \times 100 \)
- Profit percentage: \( \dfrac{SP - CP}{CP} \times 100 \)
- Price after a d% discount: \( MP \times \left(1 - \dfrac{d}{100}\right) \)
- Two workers together (a and b days alone): \( \dfrac{ab}{a + b} \) days
- Average: \( \dfrac{\text{Sum of values}}{n} \)
- Combinations: \( ^{n}C_{r} = \dfrac{n!}{r!\,(n - r)!} \)
Who should take this test
This test suits XAT aspirants who want a quick, timed check across all three scored sections of Part 1. It is useful for beginners measuring their starting level and for regular learners who want short, mixed practice at real-paper difficulty.
How to use the solutions
Every question in this test comes with the correct answer and a short worked solution. After submitting, review each wrong or skipped question, note the topic it belongs to, and revisit those topics before your next attempt. Because wrong answers cost 0.25 marks, also check which guesses lost you marks.
