Timed diagnostic

Before you take the assessment

This is a single timed sitting whose job is to produce an honest baseline. It is worth nothing if it is taken in pieces, so read these first.

  • It runs in full screen. The test takes over the screen when it starts, the way the real computer-based test does.
  • Leaving it is counted. Switching away is recorded and warned about; the third time, the paper is submitted for you.
  • The clock runs for 30 minutes. Set aside that long, uninterrupted. It starts when you begin, keeps running if you close the tab, and submits the paper at zero.
  • 3 timed sections. Each section has its own limit, and a section you have finished cannot be returned to.

About this test

About the IIMB UGAT Assessment Test

The IIMB UGAT Assessment Test on Aptitude360 is a free practice test with 30 multiple-choice questions to be solved in 30 minutes. It is set at medium difficulty, close to a typical real paper, and uses +3 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong answer. Each question has 4 options, and the test is in English.

Test pattern and marking

  • English Comprehension: 8 questions, 8 minutes, +3 correct / −1 wrong
  • Logical Reasoning: 7 questions, 7 minutes, +3 correct / −1 wrong
  • Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation: 15 questions, 15 minutes, +3 correct / −1 wrong

On Aptitude360 each section has its own timer as a pacing aid, and the section times add up to 30 minutes. The real IIMB UGAT has no sectional time limit, so these section times are only a suggested pace.

Topics covered

English Comprehension includes Reading Comprehension, Fill in the Blanks, Para Jumbles, Sentence Improvement, Synonyms & Antonyms, and Word Usage & Swap.

Logical Reasoning covers Critical Reasoning, Syllogism, Series, Classification, Data Sufficiency, Seating Arrangement and Coding-Decoding.

Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation has three Data Interpretation questions plus Profit, Loss & Discount, Mixture & Alligation, Time & Work, Quadratic Equations, Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration, Statistics, Probability, Permutation & Combination, and Maxima & Minima.

Every question shows its question type in square brackets at the top, for example [Data Sufficiency], [Puzzle / Seating Arrangement], [Critical Reasoning] and [Reading Comprehension], so you can see which part of the real exam pattern each question follows.

Key formulas to revise

  • Percentage change: \( \dfrac{\text{New} - \text{Old}}{\text{Old}} \times 100 \)
  • Profit percentage: \( \dfrac{SP - CP}{CP} \times 100 \)
  • A alone takes \(a\) days and B alone takes \(b\) days. Together they take \( \dfrac{ab}{a+b} \) days.
  • Roots of \( ax^{2}+bx+c=0 \), where \( a \neq 0 \): \( x = \dfrac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^{2}-4ac}}{2a} \)
  • Combinations: \( {}^{n}C_{r} = \dfrac{n!}{r!(n-r)!} \)
  • Probability with equally likely outcomes: \( P(E) = \dfrac{\text{favourable}}{\text{total}} \)

Who should take this test

This test suits students preparing for the IIMB UGAT who want a timed check across all three areas in a single sitting. It also helps anyone who wants to practise pacing under +3/−1 marking.

How to use the solutions

Every question in this test has the correct answer and a short worked solution. After you submit, go through the questions you got wrong and the ones you guessed. Note which topics cost you marks, then revise those topics before attempting another test on Aptitude360.
