Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 30-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 30 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Heat and Thermodynamics Level 2 GK MCQs: Breezes, Latent Heat and Laws

Heat and Thermodynamics GK Quiz Level 2 is the medium set in the Aptitude360 General Awareness physics series. It moves past recall into statement-based, matching, odd-one-out and sequencing questions on heat transfer, breezes, change of state, the behaviour of water and the laws of thermodynamics. Every question has a written explanation.

Topics tested in Heat and Thermodynamics Level 2

  • Why a clinical thermometer has a narrow range compared with a laboratory thermometer
  • Ordering the steps that form a sea breeze, and the cause of a land breeze
  • Matching conduction, convection and radiation with real examples
  • Constant temperature during change of state, sublimation and latent heat of fusion
  • Density changes as water is warmed just above its freezing point
  • Celsius to kelvin conversion and arranging temperatures in order
  • Zeroth, first and second laws of thermodynamics

Key thermodynamics concepts for this level

  • Heat cannot be fully converted into work, and it does not flow on its own from a colder to a hotter body
  • In convection, the warmer part of a fluid becomes lighter and rises
  • Water contracts rather than expands when warmed just above its melting point
  • Dark surfaces absorb and emit heat well; light surfaces reflect it

Revision tips for statement and sequence questions

  • Track a heated block of ice stage by stage: melting, densest water, then boiling
  • In odd-one-out items, group options by mode of heat transfer or by conductor type first
  • Test every statement separately before choosing a combined option

Who should take this Level 2 quiz

It suits general awareness aspirants who know the basics of heat and now want tougher, exam-style statement and matching practice.

FAQs about Heat and Thermodynamics – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 2

What is the second law of thermodynamics in simple words?
Heat does not flow by itself from a colder body to a hotter one, and no engine can turn all the heat it takes in into work.
What is the zeroth law of thermodynamics?
If two bodies are each in thermal equilibrium with a third body, they are in thermal equilibrium with each other. This law gives us the concept of temperature.
What is anomalous expansion of water?
Between zero and four degrees Celsius, water contracts on heating instead of expanding. Its density is therefore highest at four degrees Celsius.
What is the difference between sea breeze and land breeze?
A sea breeze blows from sea to land during the day, because land heats faster. A land breeze blows from land to sea at night, because land cools faster.

100 in total. An attempt is spent the moment you begin one.

What you get when you submit

The analysis is ready the moment you submit the paper.

Score and accuracy

Marks, percentage, right, wrong and skipped, and the time you took.

Section by section

The same figures for each section, so a weak one cannot hide in an average.
