Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 25-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 25 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Motion and Laws of Motion GK Practice Quiz Level 1: Newton's Laws Basics

Motion and Laws of Motion Level 1 is a beginner General Awareness physics quiz that builds the basic vocabulary of motion and Newton's three laws. It covers distance, displacement, speed, velocity, acceleration, the equations of motion, inertia and momentum. Aptitude360 explains every answer so the definitions stay clear.

What this Motion and Laws of Motion Level 1 quiz covers

  • Distance as total path length versus displacement as the shortest distance between start and end points
  • Scalar and vector quantities, with speed, time, velocity and displacement as examples
  • Speed, velocity and acceleration, and their SI units
  • Uniform circular motion and why it counts as accelerated motion
  • The three equations of motion, the meaning of each symbol and the condition of uniform acceleration
  • Newton's first, second and third laws, the newton as unit of force, momentum and gun recoil

Key motion concepts to revise

  • Inertia explains why a standing passenger falls forward when a bus brakes suddenly
  • Action and reaction forces act on two different bodies
  • Momentum is the product of mass and velocity, measured in kilogram metre per second
  • A fielder pulls the hands back to increase the time of catch and reduce the force felt

Preparation tips for basic laws of motion

  • Make a two-column list of scalar and vector quantities and revise it until each one is automatic
  • Learn what u, v, a, s and t stand for before memorising the equations of motion
  • Link each of Newton's laws to one everyday example, such as braking buses for inertia and recoil for the third law

Who should take this Level 1 physics GK set

Students starting physics General Awareness for SSC, railway, defence and state exams can use this Level 1 set to fix the basics before moving to applied questions.

FAQs about Motion and Laws of Motion – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 1

What are the three laws of motion?
The first law says a body stays at rest or in uniform motion unless an unbalanced force acts on it. The second law says force equals mass times acceleration. The third law says every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
What is the difference between distance and displacement?
Distance is the total length of the path travelled and is a scalar. Displacement is the shortest distance between the initial and final positions in a given direction and is a vector.
Which law of motion is called the law of inertia?
Newton's first law of motion is called the law of inertia. Inertia is the tendency of a body to resist a change in its state of rest or uniform motion.
What is the SI unit of force?
The SI unit of force is the newton. One newton is the force that gives a mass of one kilogram an acceleration of one metre per second squared.
