Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 25-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 25 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Work, Energy, Power and Gravitation GK Quiz Level 1: Physics Basics

This is Level 1 of the Work, Energy, Power and Gravitation GK quiz, a basics set that mixes gravitation with work, energy and power. It covers the universal law of gravitation, mass and weight, kinetic and potential energy, and the household unit of electricity. Aptitude360 keeps these questions direct and definition-based for first-round revision.

What this gravitation and energy basics set covers

  • Universal law of gravitation, the meaning of G and dependence on mass and distance
  • Free fall, acceleration due to gravity and why heavy and light objects fall together without air resistance
  • Mass versus weight, their units and why weight changes on the Moon
  • Tides and the force that keeps planets and the Moon in orbit
  • Work, kinetic energy, potential energy and conservation of energy
  • Power, the watt, the kilowatt and the commercial unit of electrical energy on bills

Core facts to revise in work, energy and power

  • Weight is a force measured in newtons, while mass is measured in kilograms and stays constant
  • The joule, unit of work and energy, is named after James Prescott Joule
  • The electricity unit on a bill measures energy, not power
  • The Moon's gravity is about one-sixth of the Earth's

Revision tips for beginners

  • Make a single table of quantity, formula and SI unit for every term in this chapter
  • Learn how gravitational force changes when distance is doubled or halved

Who this Level 1 quiz is for

General Awareness aspirants starting physics revision who want to secure the basics before moving to harder levels.

FAQs about Work, Energy, Power and Gravitation – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 1

What is work, energy and power in physics?
Work is done when a force moves an object, and equals force times displacement in the direction of the force. Energy is the capacity to do work, and power is the rate of doing work. Work and energy are measured in joules and power in watts.
What is the difference between mass and weight?
Mass is the quantity of matter in an object, measured in kilograms, and it stays the same everywhere. Weight is the force with which a planet pulls the object, equal to mass times acceleration due to gravity, measured in newtons.
Why is weight on the Moon one-sixth of weight on Earth?
The acceleration due to gravity on the Moon is about one-sixth of that on the Earth because the Moon has much less mass. Since weight equals mass times gravity, weight drops to about one-sixth while mass stays unchanged.
What causes tides on Earth?
Tides are caused by the gravitational pull of the Moon and the Sun on the Earth's oceans, with the Moon having the larger effect because it is much closer.
