Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 35-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 35 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Units and Measurement GK Practice Quiz Level 3: SI Units and Dimensions

Units and Measurement Level 3 is an advanced General Awareness physics quiz on SI base and derived units, dimensional formulas, SI prefixes and units for very small and very large lengths. Aptitude360 builds this set around statement-based and match-the-list questions that test finer distinctions. Every question comes with a detailed explanation.

Topics covered in this Units and Measurement Level 3 set

  • SI base units such as the kelvin, mole, candela and ampere, and how they differ from derived units like the lumen, newton and hertz
  • Derived units expressed through other units, including the joule, watt, pascal and newton
  • Dimensional formulas of velocity, acceleration, force, momentum and pressure
  • SI prefixes from nano to mega, their powers of ten and simple conversions
  • Small length units (fermi, angstrom, nanometre) and large ones (astronomical unit, light year, parsec) in order of size
  • Units of power versus energy, the unified atomic mass unit, and the radian and steradian

Key measurement concepts to revise

  • The radian and steradian are dimensionless SI derived units of plane angle and solid angle respectively
  • Light year and parsec measure distance, not time
  • SI derived units are built from base units, while units such as the angstrom and light year lie outside the SI
  • Derived units named after scientists, such as the pascal, hertz, newton and joule

Revision tips for units, prefixes and dimensions

  • Memorise the SI base units as a fixed list, then classify every other unit as SI derived or non-SI
  • Express each derived unit in terms of the SI base units to work out its dimension
  • Place length units on one scale from fermi up to parsec and revise it as a single picture

Who should take this Level 3 physics GK quiz

This set suits SSC, railway, banking and state exam aspirants who have covered the basics of units and measurement and want harder statement-based practice.

FAQs about Units and Measurement – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 3

How many SI base units are there?
There are seven SI base units: the metre, kilogram, second, ampere, kelvin, mole and candela. All other SI units are derived from these.
Is light year a unit of time or distance?
A light year is a unit of distance. It is the distance light travels in vacuum in one year.
What is the dimensional formula of force?
The dimensional formula of force is M L T to the power minus two. This follows from force being mass multiplied by acceleration.
Is the radian a base unit or a derived unit?
The radian is a dimensionless SI derived unit of plane angle. The steradian is the corresponding dimensionless SI derived unit of solid angle.

100 in total. An attempt is spent the moment you begin one.

What you get when you submit

The analysis is ready the moment you submit the paper.

Score and accuracy

Marks, percentage, right, wrong and skipped, and the time you took.

Section by section

The same figures for each section, so a weak one cannot hide in an average.
