Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 30-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 30 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Work, Energy, Power and Gravitation GK Practice Quiz Level 2

This Level 2 General Awareness quiz on Aptitude360 covers the physics of work, energy, power and gravitation, from the universal law of gravitation and free fall to SI units and household electricity units. It mixes statement-based, match-the-list and simple numerical questions, and every question has a written solution.

Topics covered in this Level 2 physics GK set

  • Universal law of gravitation and how the force changes when mass or distance changes
  • Free fall, acceleration due to gravity and why heavy and light objects fall together
  • Mass versus weight, and why an object weighs less on the Moon
  • Work done by a force, including cases where no work is done
  • Kinetic and potential energy and the law of conservation of energy
  • Power, the watt, the kilowatt and the commercial unit of electricity shown on a bill

Key concepts to revise for work, energy and gravitation questions

  • SI units and the scientists they are named after: newton, joule and watt
  • The difference between the universal gravitational constant and the acceleration due to gravity
  • The inverse square relationship between gravitational force and distance
  • Gravity's role in tides and in keeping the Moon in orbit around the Earth
  • Odd-one-out logic: power is a rate, while work and the forms of energy are amounts

Revision tips for gravitation and energy GK

  • Make a quick table of quantity, formula and SI unit, since match-the-list questions test these pairs
  • Practise how gravitational force changes when mass and distance change together
  • Treat each numbered statement separately before choosing the combined answer option
  • Convert an appliance's power and running time into units of electricity before comparing energy values

Who should take this physics GK quiz

This set suits General Awareness aspirants who have revised basic mechanics and want medium-level practice before moving to tougher physics sets.

FAQs about Work, Energy, Power and Gravitation – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 2

What is work, energy and power in physics?
Work is done when a force moves an object through a displacement in the direction of the force. Energy is the capacity to do work, and power is the rate at which work is done. Their SI units are the joule, the joule and the watt respectively.
How are gravitation and work, energy and power related?
Gravity is a force, so lifting an object against it requires work. That work is stored as gravitational potential energy, which equals mass times the acceleration due to gravity times height.
Why is no work done when pushing a wall that does not move?
Work needs displacement in the direction of the applied force. If the wall does not move, the displacement is zero, so the work done on the wall is zero even though effort is spent.
Why do heavy and light objects fall at the same rate?
When air resistance is ignored, every object near the Earth's surface falls with the same acceleration due to gravity, whatever its mass. So a heavy stone and a light stone dropped together reach the ground at the same time.
