Timed diagnostic

Before you take the assessment

This is a single timed sitting whose job is to produce an honest baseline. It is worth nothing if it is taken in pieces, so read these first.

  • It runs in full screen. The test takes over the screen when it starts, the way the real computer-based test does.
  • Leaving it is counted. Switching away is recorded and warned about; the third time, the paper is submitted for you.
  • The clock runs for 30 minutes. Set aside that long, uninterrupted. It starts when you begin, keeps running if you close the tab, and submits the paper at zero.
  • 3 timed sections. Each section has its own limit, and a section you have finished cannot be returned to.

About this test

About the SSC Stenographer Assessment Test

The SSC Stenographer Assessment Test on Aptitude360 is a free, medium-level practice test of 30 multiple-choice questions to be solved in 30 minutes, with +1 for a correct answer and −0.25 for a wrong answer. The marking follows the SSC Stenographer Grade C & D notice. Each question has 4 options. The difficulty is pitched at a typical real-paper level, and the test is in English.

Test pattern and marking

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: 8 questions, 8 minutes, +1 correct / −0.25 wrong
  • General Awareness: 7 questions, 7 minutes, +1 correct / −0.25 wrong
  • English Language and Comprehension: 15 questions, 15 minutes, +1 correct / −0.25 wrong

Each section has its own timer, and the section times add up to 30 minutes.

Topics covered

Reasoning covers mathematical operations, Venn diagrams, alphabet and word tests, missing numbers, calendar, seating arrangement, analogy and classification.

General Awareness has one question each from chemistry, biology, art and culture, static GK, history, polity and geography.

English opens with a five-question cloze test, followed by idioms and phrases, one word substitution, error spotting, sentence improvement, fill in the blanks, spelling, active and passive voice, direct and indirect speech, para jumbles, and synonyms and antonyms.

Every question shows its question type in square brackets at the top, for example [Cloze Test], [Puzzle / Seating Arrangement], [Para Jumble] and [Mathematical Operations], so you can see which part of the real exam pattern each question follows.

Key formulas to revise

  • Venn diagram (two sets): \( n(A \cup B) = n(A) + n(B) - n(A \cap B) \)
  • Ordinary year: \( 365 = 52 \times 7 + 1 \), so 1 odd day
  • Leap year: \( 366 = 52 \times 7 + 2 \), so 2 odd days

Who should take this test

This test suits SSC Stenographer aspirants who want a quick, timed check across all three sections. It also helps anyone practising section-wise time management under negative marking.

How to use the solutions

Every question in this test has the correct answer and a short worked solution. After submitting, review each wrong or skipped question, note which topic it came from, and revise that topic before your next attempt on Aptitude360.
