Timed diagnostic

Before you take the assessment

This is a single timed sitting whose job is to produce an honest baseline. It is worth nothing if it is taken in pieces, so read these first.

  • It runs in full screen. The test takes over the screen when it starts, the way the real computer-based test does.
  • Leaving it is counted. Switching away is recorded and warned about; the third time, the paper is submitted for you.
  • The clock runs for 30 minutes. Set aside that long, uninterrupted. It starts when you begin, keeps running if you close the tab, and submits the paper at zero.
  • 4 timed sections. Each section has its own limit, and a section you have finished cannot be returned to.

About this test

About the SSC MTS Assessment Test

The SSC MTS Assessment Test on Aptitude360 is a free, medium-level mock with 30 multiple-choice questions to be solved in 30 minutes. Each correct answer earns +3 marks, and a wrong answer costs −1 mark only in General Awareness and English. Each question has four options, the difficulty matches a typical real-paper level, and the test is in English. The marking follows the SSC MTS notice: Session I (Maths and Reasoning) has no negative marking, while Session II (General Awareness and English) deducts one mark for each wrong answer.

Test pattern and marking

  • Numerical and Mathematical Ability: 7 questions, 7 minutes, +3 for a correct answer, no negative marking
  • Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving: 7 questions, 7 minutes, +3 for a correct answer, no negative marking
  • General Awareness: 8 questions, 8 minutes, +3 for a correct answer, −1 for a wrong answer
  • English Language and Comprehension: 8 questions, 8 minutes, +3 for a correct answer, −1 for a wrong answer

Each section has its own timer, and the section times add up to 30 minutes.

Topics covered

Maths covers percentage; profit, loss and discount; ratio and proportion; average; simple and compound interest; time and work; and time, speed and distance.

Reasoning includes series, alphanumeric series, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction sense, order and ranking, and syllogism.

General Awareness spans geography, economy, physics, chemistry, biology, art and culture, static GK and history.

English tests synonyms and antonyms, idioms and phrases, one word substitution, error spotting and spelling, plus a cloze test (a passage with three blanks).

Every question shows its question type in square brackets at the top, for example [Cloze Test], [Percentage], [Profit, Loss & Discount] and [Ratio & Proportion], so you can see which part of the real exam pattern each question follows.

Key formulas to revise

  • Profit percentage: \(\text{Profit}\%=\dfrac{SP-CP}{CP}\times 100\)
  • Average of n values: \(\bar{x}=\dfrac{\text{Sum}}{n}\)
  • Simple interest: \(SI=\dfrac{P\times R\times T}{100}\)
  • Compound amount, compounded annually: \(A=P\left(1+\dfrac{R}{100}\right)^{T}\)
  • Distance, where v is speed and t is time: \(D=v\times t\)
  • One day's work if a job takes a days: \(\dfrac{1}{a}\)

Who should take this test

This test suits SSC MTS aspirants who want a quick, timed check of all four sections in one sitting. It also helps you practise working within a fixed time per section and deciding when to attempt or skip a question in the sections that carry negative marking.

How to use the solutions

Every question in this test has the correct answer and a short worked solution. Compare your own method with the worked steps, note the topics where you lost marks, and revise those first. In General Awareness and English, review each wrong answer carefully, because every mistake there costs one mark. You can then return to Aptitude360 for more practice on your weaker topics.
