Timed diagnostic

Before you take the assessment

This is a single timed sitting whose job is to produce an honest baseline. It is worth nothing if it is taken in pieces, so read these first.

  • It runs in full screen. The test takes over the screen when it starts, the way the real computer-based test does.
  • Leaving it is counted. Switching away is recorded and warned about; the third time, the paper is submitted for you.
  • The clock runs for 30 minutes. Set aside that long, uninterrupted. It starts when you begin, keeps running if you close the tab, and submits the paper at zero.
  • 4 timed sections. Each section has its own limit, and a section you have finished cannot be returned to.

About this test

About the SSC CHSL Assessment Test

The SSC CHSL Assessment Test on Aptitude360 is a free, medium-level practice test of 30 multiple-choice questions to be solved in 30 minutes, marked at +2 for a correct answer and −0.50 for a wrong answer, following the SSC CHSL Tier 1 notice. Each question has four options, the test is in English, and the difficulty is pitched at a typical real-paper level.

Test pattern and marking

  • English Language: 8 questions, 8 minutes, +2 correct / −0.5 wrong
  • General Intelligence: 7 questions, 7 minutes, +2 correct / −0.5 wrong
  • Quantitative Aptitude: 7 questions, 7 minutes, +2 correct / −0.5 wrong
  • General Awareness: 8 questions, 8 minutes, +2 correct / −0.5 wrong

Each section has its own timer, and the section times add up to 30 minutes.

Topics covered

English Language tests one word substitution, error spotting, spelling, active and passive voice and a para jumble, plus a cloze test (a passage with three blanks).

General Intelligence covers blood relations, direction sense, order and ranking, syllogism, mathematical operations, Venn diagrams, and alphabet and word tests.

Quantitative Aptitude includes percentage, profit, loss and discount, partnership, average, simple and compound interest, time and work, and time, speed and distance.

General Awareness spans polity, geography, economy, physics, chemistry, biology, art and culture, and static GK.

Every question shows its question type in square brackets at the top, for example [Cloze Test], [Para Jumble], [One Word Substitution] and [Error Spotting], so you can see which part of the real exam pattern each question follows.

Key formulas to revise

  • Average: \( \text{Avg} = \dfrac{\text{Sum}}{\text{Count}} \)
  • Profit percentage: \( \dfrac{\text{SP} - \text{CP}}{\text{CP}} \times 100 \)
  • Simple interest: \( \text{SI} = \dfrac{P \times R \times T}{100} \)
  • Compound amount, compounded annually: \( A = P\left(1 + \dfrac{R}{100}\right)^{T} \)
  • Speed: \( \text{Speed} = \dfrac{\text{Distance}}{\text{Time}} \)

Who should take this test

This test suits SSC CHSL aspirants who want a quick, timed check across all four Tier 1 subjects. It works well as a mid-preparation benchmark or as a short daily practice set, because it costs nothing and takes only half an hour.
