Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 30-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 30 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Pressure and Fluids Physics GK Quiz Level 2: Upthrust, Density and Forces

Calculating pressure from thrust and area, finding upthrust and judging whether objects float are the core of this Level 2 pressure and fluids quiz. On Aptitude360, the set mixes short numericals with odd-one-out, matching, sequencing and statement questions on buoyancy, relative density and the types of force.

Topics tested in the Level 2 pressure and fluids set

  • How pressure changes when thrust or area is altered, alone or together
  • Upthrust equal to the weight of the displaced liquid, and the Eureka story
  • Relative density as a unitless ratio against water
  • Comparing an object's density with a liquid's to predict floating or sinking
  • Matching quantities with SI units such as pascal, newton and newton metre
  • Contact versus non-contact forces, and the idea of inertia

Key concepts behind upthrust and density questions

  • Pressure rises when area falls for the same thrust, which explains sharp blades
  • A floating block is less dense than the liquid supporting it
  • Relative density has no unit because it divides one density by another
  • A rubber sucker stays fixed because outside air pressure exceeds the pressure inside

Revision tips for medium-level fluid questions

  • For combined changes, write how thrust and area each change, then work out the new pressure
  • In odd-one-out questions, first decide the basis, such as unit, force type or application
  • Check each statement for direction words, since upthrust always acts upward

Who this Level 2 physics GK quiz suits

Aspirants who have covered the basics of pressure and buoyancy and want medium-level practice with simple calculations for General Science sections.

FAQs about Pressure and Fluids – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 2

How does pressure change if thrust is doubled and area is halved?
Pressure equals thrust divided by area, so doubling thrust doubles pressure and halving area doubles it again. The pressure becomes four times the original.
Why does relative density have no unit?
Relative density is the density of a substance divided by the density of water. Both have the same unit, so the units cancel and the result is a pure number.
Why does an iron nail sink but a ship float?
An iron nail is denser than water, so its weight exceeds the upthrust on it. A ship's hollow shape displaces a large volume of water, giving enough upthrust to balance its weight.
What is the difference between pressure in solids and fluids?
A solid exerts pressure mainly downward through its weight on the area it rests on. A fluid exerts pressure in all directions, on the base and the walls of its container, and this pressure increases with depth.
