Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 25-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 25 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Light and Human Eye Physics GK Practice Quiz for Beginners

Built for beginners starting physics GK, this Level 1 quiz on Aptitude360 covers the basics of light: reflection by plane and spherical mirrors, refraction, lenses and the structure of the human eye. Questions are direct and fact-based, so they help you build a firm base before moving to statement-type questions.

What this Level 1 light quiz covers

  • Images in plane mirrors and the laws of reflection
  • Uses of concave and convex mirrors in headlights, rear-view mirrors and dentistry
  • Refraction, Snell's law and the refractive index of diamond
  • Convex and concave lenses, power of a lens and the dioptre
  • Parts of the human eye such as the cornea, iris, retina and optic nerve
  • Myopia and hypermetropia and their correction; cataract
  • Twinkling of stars, rainbows, the blue sky and the Tyndall effect

Basic optics concepts every beginner should know

  • A concave lens diverges light, while a convex lens converges light
  • Myopia is corrected with a concave lens and hypermetropia with a convex lens
  • Red light is scattered the least, which is why danger signals are red
  • The eye lens forms a real and inverted image on the retina

Study tips for light and human eye GK

  • Make a two-column table of mirror and lens uses so you can recall which device suits which job
  • Link each everyday effect, such as a blue sky or twinkling stars, to its phenomenon: scattering or atmospheric refraction
  • Trace the path of light through the eye from the cornea to the retina, then remember that the optic nerve carries the signals to the brain

FAQs about Light: Reflection, Refraction, Lenses and the Human Eye – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 1

Which mirror is used as a rear-view mirror in vehicles?
A convex mirror is used because it always forms an erect, diminished image and gives a wider field of view.
How is myopia corrected?
Myopia, or near-sightedness, is corrected with a concave (diverging) lens, which moves the image back onto the retina.
Why does the sky appear blue?
Air molecules scatter shorter wavelengths such as blue much more than longer wavelengths such as red. This scattered blue light reaches our eyes from all directions.
In which unit is the power of a lens measured?
The power of a lens is commonly measured in dioptres. One dioptre equals one reciprocal metre, the SI unit, and is the power of a lens with a focal length of one metre.

Marking & rules

Total marks
50 across 50 questions.
Negative marking
A wrong answer costs marks. Leaving a question unanswered costs nothing.
Attempts
100 in total. An attempt is spent the moment you begin one.

What you get when you submit

The analysis is ready the moment you submit the paper.

Score and accuracy

Marks, percentage, right, wrong and skipped, and the time you took.

Section by section

The same figures for each section, so a weak one cannot hide in an average.

The full answer key

Every question with your answer, the right one, the working, and the video where there is one.

Where you stand
