Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 30-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 30 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Electricity and Magnetism Physics GK MCQs Level 2 with Explanations

Built for General Awareness aspirants who have covered the basics and need medium-level practice, this Level 2 Aptitude360 quiz tests electricity and magnetism as asked in physics GK. It spans Ohm's law, resistance, domestic wiring, magnetic field lines, Fleming's left-hand rule, the electric motor and electromagnetic induction, with a written explanation for every question.

What this electricity and magnetism quiz tests

  • Ohm's law, resistance, resistivity and the factors that affect a wire's resistance
  • Series and parallel combinations of resistors
  • Joule's law of heating, expressions for electric power and the commercial unit of electrical energy
  • Domestic circuits: earth wire, parallel wiring, overloading and short circuits
  • Magnetic field lines, compass needles and bar magnets
  • Fleming's left-hand rule, the electric motor and its split-ring commutator
  • Faraday's discovery of electromagnetic induction
  • Materials and applications such as tungsten filaments, transmission line metals and MRI

Key concepts for electricity and magnetism GK

  • Resistance depends on length, area of cross-section and material, while resistivity depends only on the material at a given temperature
  • Household appliances are wired in parallel so each gets the full supply voltage and can be switched independently
  • Tungsten suits bulb filaments because of its very high melting point
  • Outside a magnet, field lines run from north to south and never cross
  • An electric motor works on the force acting on a current-carrying conductor in a magnetic field

Revision tips for physics GK on electricity

  • Practise Fleming's left-hand rule with your own hand until field, current and force come quickly
  • Pair each device with its working principle to handle odd-one-out questions
  • Learn quantity and SI unit pairs, such as ohm for resistance and volt for potential difference

FAQs about Electricity and Magnetism – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 2

What is Ohm's law?
Ohm's law, stated by Georg Simon Ohm, says the current through a conductor is directly proportional to the potential difference across it, provided temperature and other physical conditions stay constant.
What is Fleming's left-hand rule used for?
It gives the direction of force on a current-carrying conductor in a magnetic field. The forefinger shows the field, the middle finger the current and the thumb the motion, which is why it applies to electric motors.
Why are household appliances connected in parallel?
In parallel, each appliance receives the full supply voltage and can be switched on or off independently. If one appliance is switched off or its circuit breaks open, the others keep working.
What is electromagnetic induction?
Electromagnetic induction is the production of an electromotive force in a conductor when the magnetic field linked with it changes, and a current flows if the conductor forms a closed circuit. Michael Faraday demonstrated it in 1831.
