Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 75-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 75 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Simple Interest Level 3 Practice Quiz: Instalments, Changing Rates and CI

This is the Level 3 Simple Interest practice quiz in the Quant Arithmetic set on Aptitude360, built around the harder problems in the topic. It covers equal annual instalments, rates that change over time, sums split across different rates and the link between simple and compound interest. A worked solution is given for every question.

Topics in this Simple Interest Level 3 set

  • Equal annual instalments that clear a debt due at a future date
  • Loans where the rate changes across different periods
  • Dividing a sum so that the amounts on each part become equal after different years
  • Capital spread across several rates, and the effect of interchanging two rates
  • Time for a sum to become a given multiple of itself
  • Difference between compound and simple interest on the same sum
  • Effective rate when interest is deducted upfront or compounded half-yearly, and gain from borrowing at one rate and lending at another

Key simple interest formulas

  • Simple interest: \( SI=\dfrac{P\times R\times T}{100} \)
  • Amount: \( A=P\left(1+\dfrac{RT}{100}\right) \)
  • Sum becomes \( k \) times itself: \( R\times T=100(k-1) \)
  • CI minus SI for two years: \( P\left(\dfrac{R}{100}\right)^{2} \)
  • Debt \( A \) cleared by \( n \) instalments \( x \): \( A=nx+\dfrac{xR}{100}\times\dfrac{n(n-1)}{2} \)

Preparation tips for harder interest problems

  • For changing rates, add the rate multiplied by time for each period before applying the formula
  • For equal amounts on split sums, set up each part's amount as principal multiplied by the growth factor and compare
  • Remember that the first year's compound and simple interest are always equal, so the gap starts in the second year

Who should practise this level

Students in Chandigarh and elsewhere who are comfortable with the basic simple interest formula and want multi-step arithmetic practice before moving to mixed quant sets.

FAQs about Simple Interest Practice Questions with Detailed Solutions – Level 3

What is the formula of simple interest?
Simple interest equals principal multiplied by rate multiplied by time, divided by one hundred. The amount is the principal plus this interest.
What is the difference between simple interest and compound interest?
Simple interest is calculated only on the original principal every year. Compound interest is calculated on the principal plus the interest already added, so it grows faster after the first year.
What is the formula for the difference between compound and simple interest for two years?
For two years with annual compounding, the difference equals the principal multiplied by the square of the rate divided by one hundred.
How do you find the rate if a sum doubles at simple interest?
When a sum doubles, the interest equals the principal, so rate multiplied by time equals one hundred. Divide one hundred by the number of years to get the rate per cent per annum.
