Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 30-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 30 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Metals and Non-Metals Level 2 GK Quiz: Reactivity, Oxides and Alloys

Metals and Non-Metals Level 2 is an intermediate chemistry GK set that moves from one-line recall to statement, matching, ordering and odd-one-out questions. It covers the reactivity series, amphoteric oxides, extraction processes, alloys and corrosion. Aptitude360 provides a solution for every question.

Topics tested in this Level 2 metals and non-metals quiz

  • Ordering metals by reactivity, and positions relative to hydrogen, copper, silver and aluminium
  • Oxides that react with both acids and bases, and the general nature of metal and non-metal oxides
  • Matching processes with uses: roasting, calcination, thermit welding of railway tracks and electrolytic refining
  • Alloy constituents: steel, solder and amalgam, plus carat purity of gold
  • Corrosion and its prevention: chrome plating, alloying and anodising, with the rust-resistant Iron Pillar in Delhi
  • Exceptions in properties: soft metals, low-melting metals, graphite and diamond

Key concepts that decide statement-based questions

  • Why highly reactive sodium and potassium are stored under kerosene and react violently with water
  • Why the thermit reaction suits welding: it releases enough heat to give molten iron
  • Anodising is a protective coating method, not an extraction method
  • Why solder's low melting point makes it useful for joining electrical wires

Revision tips for intermediate metals questions

  • Write the reactivity series from memory and practise placing any two metals relative to each other
  • For odd-one-out items, first name the property being compared before checking options
  • Link each process to its ore type and its purpose to avoid mix-ups in matching lists

Who should take this Level 2 chemistry quiz

It suits general awareness learners who know the basics of metals and non-metals and now want exam-style statement and matching practice.

FAQs about Metals and Non-Metals – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 2

What is the reactivity series of metals?
The reactivity series lists metals in decreasing order of reactivity, with potassium near the top and gold at the bottom. A more reactive metal can displace a less reactive one from its salt solution.
Why are sodium and potassium kept in kerosene?
Sodium and potassium react vigorously with oxygen and moisture in air and can catch fire. Keeping them under kerosene cuts off contact with air and water.
What is the difference between roasting and calcination?
Roasting is heating a sulphide ore strongly in excess air to convert it into an oxide. Calcination is heating a carbonate ore strongly in limited air to convert it into an oxide.
What is solder made of and why is it used?
Solder is an alloy of lead and tin. Its low melting point makes it useful for joining electrical wires.
