Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 30-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 30 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

India Location and Neighbours GK Practice Questions Level 2 with Answers

Applying map facts to reasoning questions is the focus of this Level 2 quiz on India's location, states and neighbours, offered free on Aptitude360. It goes beyond recall to statement checks, ordering places by latitude or longitude, matching lines and features, and working out Indian Standard Time.

Areas tested in this Level 2 India geography set

  • Statement questions on India's size, rank and position in the Northern Hemisphere
  • States crossed by the Tropic of Cancer and the meaning of India's limiting latitudes and longitudes
  • Converting GMT to IST and explaining the Gujarat to Arunachal Pradesh time lag
  • Ordering places from south to north and west to east, such as Indira Point, Kanniyakumari and Mirzapur
  • Matching neighbours with their direction and spotting the odd one out
  • Passes such as Khyber and Nathu La, Palk Strait, island groups and the Suez Canal
  • Territorial sea limits, the naming of the Indian Ocean and Union Territory administration

Key concepts to revise for India's location

  • Earth's rotation makes local time change with longitude, so a single Standard Meridian keeps time uniform across India
  • India's central position at the head of the Indian Ocean explains the ocean's name
  • The Suez Canal shortened the sea route between India and Europe
  • The southern boundary of the Indian Union lies in the Bay of Bengal, below the mainland tip

How to prepare for location and extent questions

  • Practise time conversion by adding the IST offset to GMT rather than memorising answers
  • Learn the Tropic of Cancer states in order from west to east
  • Test each statement separately before choosing a code in multi-statement questions

Who this medium-level quiz suits

Aspirants for SSC, state PSC, CUET and similar general awareness papers who already know the basic facts and want reasoning-based practice.

FAQs about India: Location, States and Neighbours – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 2

Through which states does the Tropic of Cancer pass in India?
The Tropic of Cancer passes through Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tripura and Mizoram.
Why is there a time lag between Gujarat and Arunachal Pradesh?
India has a large east-west longitudinal extent, and local time changes with longitude as the Earth rotates. So the sun rises noticeably earlier in Arunachal Pradesh in the east than in Gujarat in the west.
Why is the Indian Ocean named after India?
India has a central location at the head of the Indian Ocean and a long coastline along it. No other country has such a prominent position on this ocean.
Why does India have a Standard Meridian?
India uses a single Standard Meridian so that the whole country follows one uniform time, called Indian Standard Time. Without it, local time would differ from place to place because of the country's wide longitudinal extent.
