Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 50-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 50 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Coded and Direct Inequalities Level 2 Reasoning Practice Quiz

This is a Level 2 logical reasoning set on coded and direct inequalities. It covers statement-and-conclusion questions, relations written in symbol, word and Greek-letter codes, and blank-filling questions where signs must be placed so a given relation holds definitely. Aptitude360 offers it as a medium-level step beyond simple inequality chains, with a worked solution for every question.

Topics covered in this Level 2 inequalities set

  • Direct inequalities with one or more statements followed by two or three conclusions
  • Coded inequalities using stars, shapes and characters such as hash, dollar and percent
  • Greek-letter codes and codes defined in words, such as 'not smaller than' or 'neither greater than nor equal to'
  • Choosing the expression in which a given relation is definitely true
  • Filling blanks or replacing a single sign so that one or two conclusions follow
  • Spotting the conclusion that does not definitely follow, and the extra statement that makes a relation certain

Key rules for direct and coded inequalities

  • Strict with non-strict gives strict: \( A>B\ge C \Rightarrow A>C \)
  • Two non-strict signs stay non-strict: \( A\ge B\ge C \Rightarrow A\ge C \)
  • Equality carries the other sign: \( A=B<C \Rightarrow A<C \)
  • Opposite signs give no relation: \( A>B<C \) says nothing about A and C

Revision tips for coded inequality questions

  • Translate every code into a plain sign before reading the conclusions
  • Read 'not smaller than' as greater than or equal to, and 'neither greater nor smaller' as equal to
  • In blank-filling questions, test each option against both required relations rather than guessing the signs

Who should take this set

Reasoning learners who know the basic inequality rules and want medium-level practice, whether preparing on their own or attending classes in Chandigarh.

FAQs about Coded and Direct Inequalities Practice Questions with Detailed Solutions – Level 2

What are coded inequalities in reasoning?
Coded inequalities replace the usual signs such as greater than, less than and equal to with symbols or words. You decode each symbol into its real sign and then solve the question like a direct inequality.
How do you check if a conclusion definitely follows in inequality questions?
Find the path that joins the two elements of the conclusion. A relation follows only if all the non-equality signs on that path point the same way, since equal signs are neutral, and it is strict if at least one sign is strict.
Can we conclude anything when the signs point in opposite directions?
No. If A is greater than B and B is less than C, no definite relation between A and C can be drawn.
What does 'not smaller than' mean in coded inequalities?
'Not smaller than' means greater than or equal to. Similarly, 'not greater than' means less than or equal to.
