Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 50-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 50 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Coded and Direct Inequalities Reasoning Practice Quiz Level 1

This is the Level 1 Coded and Direct Inequalities practice set on Aptitude360, a logical reasoning quiz on comparing elements through chains of relations. It covers checking conclusions from direct statements, filling missing symbols, finding definitely true or false expressions, and decoding symbols that stand for relations. Most questions include a worked solution.

Topics covered in this inequalities Level 1 set

  • Direct inequality chains combining greater than, less than, equal to and their inclusive forms
  • Statements followed by conclusions to test for definite truth
  • Choosing the symbol that replaces a blank so that given relations hold
  • Identifying definitely true and definitely false expressions
  • Coded inequalities where symbols such as copyright, star and delta stand for relations
  • Phrase-based codes like not greater than and neither smaller than nor equal to

Key inequality rules for direct and coded questions

  • Strict sign wins in a chain: \( A>B\ge C\Rightarrow A>C \)
  • Both inclusive: \( A\ge B\ge C\Rightarrow A\ge C \)
  • Opposite signs break the chain: \( A>B<C \) gives no relation between A and C
  • Reversal: \( A\le B\Leftrightarrow B\ge A \)
  • Equality carries the other sign: \( A=B>C\Rightarrow A>C \)

Revision tips for coded inequalities

  • Decode every symbol into its real sign before reading the conclusions
  • Translate phrases carefully: not greater than means less than or equal to
  • Link the two elements in a conclusion along one continuous path in the chain
  • Remember that an equal sign never weakens a strict sign further along the chain

Who should try this Level 1 set

Beginners in logical reasoning who are learning inequality chains and symbol decoding before moving to harder levels.

FAQs about Coded and Direct Inequalities Practice Questions with Detailed Solutions – Level 1

What is the difference between coded and direct inequalities?
Direct inequalities use the standard signs such as greater than and equal to. Coded inequalities replace these signs with symbols or phrases that must be decoded first.
When is a conclusion definitely true in inequality questions?
A conclusion is definitely true when the two elements are linked through the chain without opposite-direction signs in between, and the relation it states is implied by that link. For example, A greater than B also establishes A greater than or equal to B.
What does neither greater than nor equal to mean in inequalities?
Neither greater than nor equal to means less than. Likewise, neither smaller than nor equal to means greater than.
What does not greater than mean in coded inequalities?
Not greater than means less than or equal to. Similarly, not smaller than means greater than or equal to.
