Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 30-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 30 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Atomic Structure Level 2 GK Questions: Models, Isotopes and Shells

These questions test atomic models in chronological order, isotopes and isobars, shell capacity, canal rays and the scientists behind the early laws of chemistry. This Level 2 Atomic Structure quiz on Aptitude360 moves beyond recall into statement checks, odd-one-out items and match-the-list pairs, and each answer comes with an explanation.

Areas tested in the Level 2 atomic structure set

  • Ordering ideas from Kanad's Parmanu to Thomson, Rutherford and Bohr
  • Matching Lavoisier, Proust and Dalton with the laws and theories they gave
  • Goldstein's canal rays and the discovery of the positive particle
  • Maximum electron capacity of the K, L, M and N shells
  • Working out atomic number and mass number from given protons and neutrons
  • How the nuclei of isotopes differ, and why isobars belong to different elements
  • Isotope and use pairs, ions, atomic mass unit and Avogadro's number

Key concepts behind these atomic structure questions

  • Isotopes differ only in the number of neutrons, so their chemical properties are alike
  • Bohr's key idea is that electrons revolve in fixed shells without losing energy
  • Atoms that gain or lose electrons become charged ions
  • Total mass stays the same during a chemical reaction under the law of conservation of mass

Preparation tips for statement and matching questions

  • Test each statement on its own before choosing a combination option
  • Write a timeline card with each scientist, their order and their contribution
  • For odd-one-out items, sort particles and atoms by charge or by atomic number first

Who Level 2 suits

GK aspirants who have finished the basics of atomic structure and now want practice with mixed, application-style formats.

FAQs about Atomic Structure – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 2

What are the atomic models in order?
The main atomic models in order are Dalton's indivisible atom, Thomson's plum pudding model, Rutherford's nuclear model and Bohr's model of fixed energy shells.
What are canal rays?
Canal rays are streams of positively charged particles produced in a discharge tube. E. Goldstein discovered them, and they led to the identification of the proton.
What is an atomic mass unit?
One atomic mass unit is one-twelfth of the mass of a carbon-12 atom. The masses of a proton and a neutron are each about one atomic mass unit.
What is Avogadro's number?
Avogadro's number is about 6.022 multiplied by ten raised to the power 23. It is the number of particles in one mole of a substance.
