Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 50-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 50 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Active and Passive Voice Level 2 Questions on Continuous Passives

Level 2 of the active and passive voice series is an English grammar set on changing active sentences into passive voice, with continuous tense conversions and passive infinitives after verbs like need. Aptitude360 uses sentence conversion and fill-in-the-blank formats so learners practise choosing the exact verb form a passive sentence requires.

Topics in this Level 2 voice change set

  • Turning continuous tense active sentences into passive form with being
  • Passive infinitives after need, as in a letter that needs to be posted
  • Picking the correct helping verb and past participle to complete a passive sentence

Key concepts for intermediate voice change

  • Continuous passives add being between the form of be and the past participle
  • The helping verb agrees with the new subject of the passive sentence
  • A passive infinitive is to be plus the past participle
  • The active object, not the subject, moves to the front in the passive

How to revise continuous passives and infinitives

  • Convert one base sentence across present and past continuous to see how is, are, was and were change
  • After need, check whether the subject does the action or receives it before choosing the verb form
  • Say the converted sentence aloud to catch a missing being or been

Who should take Level 2

Learners comfortable with basic voice rules who are preparing for competitive English sections can use this level as their next step.

FAQs about Active and Passive Voice Practice Questions with Detailed Solutions – Level 2

How do you change continuous tense into passive voice?
Use the right form of be, add being, then the past participle. For example, 'The workers are repairing the bridge' becomes 'The bridge is being repaired by the workers'.
What is a passive infinitive?
A passive infinitive is formed with to be plus the past participle, as in 'to be posted'. It is used when the subject receives the action, as in 'The letter needs to be posted'.
Is it needs to be done or needs doing?
Both are correct in standard English. 'The work needs to be done' and 'The work needs doing' carry the same passive meaning.
Does the tense change when converting active to passive voice?
No. The tense stays the same, and only the helping verb and the form of the main verb change to show the passive.
