Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 50-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.

FAQs about Active and Passive Voice Practice Questions with Detailed Solutions – Level 1

What are the rules of active and passive voice?
In passive voice, the object of the active sentence becomes the subject, and the verb changes to a form of be plus the past participle. The original subject usually follows by, or it can be dropped.
Which tenses are not usually changed into passive voice?
The present perfect continuous, past perfect continuous, future continuous and future perfect continuous are usually not changed into passive voice because the forms sound awkward.
Is by always used in passive voice?
No. Some verbs take other prepositions in the passive, as in The bottle is filled with milk or He is known to everyone.
Can intransitive verbs be used in passive voice?
An intransitive verb has no object, so it cannot ordinarily form a direct passive. However, a prepositional passive is possible, as in This bed has been slept in.
