Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 50-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 50 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

Sentence Rearrangement Level 1 Practice Quiz on Jumbled Sentences

This Level 1 set on Aptitude360 helps you build the basic skill of putting jumbled sentence parts and short paragraphs into a logical order. It covers simple sentence ordering and easy para jumbles, some with a fixed first or last sentence. Every question has a worked solution that explains the clue behind the correct order.

Topics covered in this Sentence Rearrangement Level 1 set

  • Ordering the parts of a single sentence, with or without the opening part given
  • Para jumbles where the first sentence, the last sentence or both are fixed
  • Process sequences such as making tea, withdrawing cash from an ATM and repairing a punctured bicycle tube
  • Chronological order in short life stories of Kalpana Chawla and Rabindranath Tagore
  • Short narratives and informative paragraphs on honeybees, the banyan tree and the dabbawalas of Mumbai

Key concepts for easy para jumbles

  • Spotting an opening sentence that introduces the subject without a pronoun or connector
  • Pronoun links, where 'he', 'they' or 'these' must follow the noun they refer to
  • Contrast and result connectors such as 'however' and 'as a result'
  • Time markers and sequence words like 'first', 'then', 'next' and 'finally'
  • Subject, verb and object order inside a single sentence

Revision tips for sentence ordering

  • Find one pair of sentences that clearly belong together, then build the rest of the order around it
  • Eliminate options using the first sentence before you test the full order
  • Read your final order once from start to end to make sure it flows naturally

Who should take this Level 1 set

It suits beginners preparing for the English section of competitive exams, and school students who want to build a base before moving to harder levels.

FAQs about Sentence Rearrangement Practice Questions with Detailed Solutions – Level 1

How to solve sentence rearrangement questions?
First find the opening sentence, which usually introduces the subject and does not begin with a pronoun or connector. Then link the remaining sentences using pronoun references, connectors and time order.
What is a para jumble?
A para jumble is a paragraph whose sentences have been shuffled. You have to arrange them into the order that forms a coherent, logical paragraph.
How do you find the first sentence in a para jumble?
The first sentence usually states the main idea or introduces a person or thing by name. Sentences that begin with words like 'he', 'this', 'however' or 'therefore' rarely come first, because they refer back to something earlier.
What are connectors in sentence rearrangement?
Connectors are linking words that show how one sentence relates to the one before it. For example, 'however' shows contrast, 'as a result' and 'therefore' show effect, and 'then' and 'next' show sequence.
