Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 35-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 35 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Nutrition, Vitamins and Deficiency Diseases GK Quiz: Advanced Level 3 Practice

This Level 3 GK quiz builds applied knowledge of human nutrition: vitamin sources and deficiency diseases, digestive enzymes and bile, food tests, and modes of nutrition in plants and animals. It relies on statement-based, match-the-list and sequence formats, so simple recall is not enough. Aptitude360 includes a worked explanation for every item in the set.

Topics covered in this nutrition and vitamins set

  • Sources and roles of Vitamins A, B-complex, C and D, including Vitamin D made in sunlight
  • Deficiency diseases such as beriberi, scurvy, rickets, anaemia and goitre, plus symptoms of protein deficiency
  • Digestive juices and enzymes: salivary amylase, pepsin, trypsin, lipase, bile and hydrochloric acid
  • Stage-wise digestion of starch, protein and fat, and absorption through villi
  • Food tests for starch and protein using iodine, copper sulphate and caustic soda
  • Modes of nutrition: autotrophs, parasites such as cuscuta, insectivorous plants and fungi

Key concepts to revise on digestion and deficiency diseases

  • Which organ secretes which enzyme, and which food component each enzyme acts on
  • Bile contains no enzyme; it makes food alkaline and breaks fat into droplets
  • Vitamin C is lost through cooking heat and through washing vegetables after cutting
  • Fats give more energy than the same quantity of carbohydrates
  • Roughage gives no nutrient but adds bulk and helps remove undigested food

Revision tips for nutrition GK practice

  • Make a single table of vitamin, food source and deficiency disease, and test yourself in both directions
  • Trace starch, protein and fat separately from mouth to small intestine to handle sequence items
  • In statement items, check the organ named for each enzyme, as swapped organs are a common trap

Who will benefit from this Level 3 biology quiz

General awareness aspirants who have finished the basics of nutrition and want harder, multi-statement practice before competitive exams.

FAQs about Nutrition, Vitamins and Deficiency Diseases – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 3

Which vitamin deficiency causes scurvy?
Scurvy is caused by a lack of Vitamin C. It leads to bleeding gums and slow healing of wounds. Amla, guava, oranges and tomatoes are good sources.
Which disease is caused by deficiency of Vitamin D?
A lack of Vitamin D causes rickets, in which bones become soft and bent. The body can make Vitamin D in sunlight, and fish, eggs and liver also supply it.
What is the function of bile in digestion?
Bile is made by the liver and stored in the gall bladder. It contains no digestive enzyme. It makes acidic food from the stomach alkaline and breaks fat into tiny droplets so that lipase can act on it.
What are deficiency diseases?
Deficiency diseases are caused by a lack of a nutrient in the diet over a long period. Examples include night blindness from lack of Vitamin A, beriberi from lack of Vitamin B1 and goitre from lack of iodine.
