Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 30-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 30 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Excretion and Reproduction Level 2 GK Practice Quiz on Nephrons and Pollination

This Level 2 quiz tests urine formation in the nephron, kidney failure and hemodialysis, plant waste removal and the modes of reproduction in Amoeba, Plasmodium, Hydra, Planaria, Spirogyra and yeast. Questions use matching, odd-one-out and sequence formats. Aptitude360 gives an explanation for every question.

Topics tested in this Level 2 biology set

  • Order of urine flow from kidney to ureter, bladder and urethra
  • Bowman's capsule, glomerular capillaries and re-absorption of glucose and amino acids
  • Hemodialysis and the comparison between lungs removing carbon dioxide and kidneys removing urea
  • Plant wastes in old xylem, vacuoles and falling leaves
  • Fission, budding, fragmentation and regeneration matched to organisms
  • Pollination types, fertilisation and the ovary growing into a fruit

Key ideas behind the tougher questions

  • Amoeba splits into two by binary fission, while Plasmodium forms many daughter cells by multiple fission
  • Hydra shows both budding and regeneration; yeast also buds
  • Spirogyra breaks into pieces by fragmentation, unlike Leishmania, which uses binary fission
  • Matching structures to organs, such as alveolus with lungs and villus with small intestine

How to prepare for matching and sequence items

  • List each organism next to its mode of reproduction and cover one column while revising
  • Practise writing the stages of budding and of urine formation in order
  • For odd-one-out items, first name the method each option uses before comparing

Who this quiz suits

It fits general awareness aspirants who have completed the basics and want medium-level practice on excretion and reproduction.

FAQs about Excretion and Reproduction – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 2

What is the function of a nephron?
A nephron is the filtration unit of the kidney. Bowman's capsule collects the filtrate from the blood, useful substances such as glucose and amino acids are re-absorbed, and the remaining waste forms urine.
What is hemodialysis?
Hemodialysis is the cleaning of blood with an artificial kidney when the kidneys fail. It removes nitrogenous wastes such as urea from the blood.
How do plants get rid of their wastes?
Plants lose extra water by transpiration and store some wastes in leaves that later fall off, in cell vacuoles and as resins and gums in old xylem. Some wastes are also released into the soil.
How is reproduction in Amoeba different from Plasmodium?
Amoeba divides into two daughter cells by binary fission. Plasmodium divides into many daughter cells at once by multiple fission.
