Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 25-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 25 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Circulatory and Respiratory Systems GK Practice Quiz for Beginners, Level 1

Level 1 of the Circulatory and Respiratory Systems GK quiz covers the basics of how the body breathes and moves blood: heart chambers, blood vessels, blood components and cellular respiration. It uses direct, one-line items suited to a first revision. Aptitude360 gives an explanation with every item.

What this circulatory system GK set covers

  • Chambers of the human heart, the role of heart valves and the direction of blood flow
  • Arteries, veins and capillaries and how their walls differ
  • Blood as a fluid connective tissue: plasma, red blood corpuscles and haemoglobin
  • Lymph as a separate fluid that carries digested fat and returns extra tissue fluid to the blood
  • Blood pressure basics and the term for high blood pressure
  • Hearts of fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals compared
  • Breathing: nostrils, cartilage rings, ribs, diaphragm and alveoli
  • Aerobic and anaerobic respiration, including yeast

Core concepts on heart, lungs and respiration

  • Oxygen-rich blood from the lungs enters the left side of the heart; deoxygenated blood enters the right atrium
  • Arteries carry blood away from the heart, while veins return it and have valves
  • Glucose first breaks into pyruvate in the cytoplasm; aerobic breakdown finishes in the mitochondria
  • Aerobic respiration releases far more energy than anaerobic respiration

Revision tips for circulation and breathing basics

  • Draw the heart once and label each chamber with where its blood comes from and goes to
  • Learn a vessel comparison table of wall thickness, valves and direction of flow
  • Revise what happens to the ribs and diaphragm when you breathe in and out as a pair

Who should take this Level 1 quiz

Beginners in general awareness biology who want to check their basics on the heart and lungs before moving to the harder levels of this series.

FAQs about Circulatory and Respiratory Systems – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 1

How do the circulatory and respiratory systems work together?
The lungs take in oxygen, which passes from the alveoli into the blood in nearby capillaries. The heart pumps this oxygen-rich blood to the body, and blood brings carbon dioxide back to the lungs to be breathed out.
How many chambers does the human heart have?
The human heart has four chambers: two upper atria and two lower ventricles. The left ventricle pumps oxygen-rich blood to the whole body.
What is the difference between arteries and veins?
Arteries carry blood away from the heart and have thick, elastic walls. Veins carry blood back to the heart, have thinner walls and contain valves that stop backflow.
What is the function of alveoli in the lungs?
Alveoli are tiny balloon-like air sacs in the lungs. Oxygen moves from them into the blood, and carbon dioxide moves from the blood into them.
