Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 60-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 60 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Algebraic Identities Level 2 Practice Quiz: Higher Powers and Cubes

This set helps you check whether you can pick the right identity when a question is disguised. Algebraic Identities Level 2 on Aptitude360 covers higher powers of reciprocal expressions, hidden cube expansions, recovering sums from squares and three-variable identities. Every question has a worked solution, so you can trace where a step went wrong.

What the Level 2 algebraic identities questions test

  • Fourth and sixth powers of a variable plus its reciprocal
  • Recovering a sum or product from given squares, including a sign condition
  • Recognising a full cube expansion written out term by term
  • Difference of cubes, including cubes of expressions with coefficients
  • Sum of three cubes using the sum, pairwise products and product of three values
  • Sum of squared differences of three variables
  • Values of irrational numbers and their reciprocals raised to a power
  • Using a quadratic equation to get a reciprocal expression

Key formulas for Level 2 identity questions

  • Sum of cubes: \( a^{3}+b^{3}=(a+b)^{3}-3ab(a+b) \)
  • Difference cube: \( (a-b)^{3}=a^{3}-3a^{2}b+3ab^{2}-b^{3} \)
  • Reciprocal cube: \( x^{3}+\dfrac{1}{x^{3}}=t^{3}-3t \), \( t=x+\dfrac{1}{x} \)
  • Fourth power: \( x^{4}+\dfrac{1}{x^{4}}=\left(x^{2}+\dfrac{1}{x^{2}}\right)^{2}-2 \)
  • Squared differences: \( (a-b)^{2}+(b-c)^{2}+(c-a)^{2}=2(a^{2}+b^{2}+c^{2}-ab-bc-ca) \)

Preparation tips for tougher identity problems

  • Climb powers step by step: get the square first, then the fourth power from it.
  • If a long expression has binomial-style coefficients, rewrite it as a single cube before calculating.
  • For a quadratic of the form x squared plus bx plus one equal to zero, divide by x, which is nonzero, to get x plus one over x equal to minus b.
  • When a square root appears, use the sign condition given in the question to pick the correct root.

Who this Level 2 set suits

It suits aspirants who have finished the basic identities and want medium-level algebra practice for quantitative aptitude sections.

FAQs about Algebraic Identities Practice Questions with Detailed Solutions – Level 2

How do you find x cube plus one by x cube?
Cube the value of x plus one over x, then subtract three times that same value. This gives x cube plus one by x cube.
How do you find x cube minus one by x cube?
Cube the value of x minus one over x, then add three times that same value. The result is x cube minus one by x cube, not x cube plus one by x cube.
What is a cube plus b cube plus c cube when a plus b plus c is zero?
If a plus b plus c equals zero, then a cube plus b cube plus c cube equals three abc. This follows from the factorised identity for the sum of three cubes.
What is the expansion of (a minus b) whole cube?
(a minus b) whole cube equals a cube minus three a squared b plus three a b squared minus b cube. It can also be written as a cube minus b cube minus three ab times (a minus b).
