Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 35-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 35 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Plant Physiology GK Practice Quiz Level 3: Hormones, Transport and Tropisms

This Level 3 Plant Physiology GK quiz tests how water, minerals and food move through a plant, how plant hormones control growth, and how plants respond to light, gravity, water and touch. It also covers stomata, meristems and night-time carbon dioxide uptake in desert plants. On Aptitude360, every question comes with a written explanation.

Topics covered in this plant physiology set

  • Transport: roles of xylem and phloem, the path of water from root hair to leaf, transpiration pull, root pressure and translocation
  • Stomata and transpiration: guard cells, gas exchange in leaves and loss of water vapour from aerial parts
  • Photosynthesis: the order of events in a leaf and how desert plants take in carbon dioxide at night
  • Plant hormones: auxin, gibberellins, cytokinins and abscisic acid, and where each acts
  • Plant movements: phototropism, geotropism, hydrotropism, chemotropism and the touch response of Mimosa
  • Plant tissues: apical, lateral and intercalary meristems, cambium, parenchyma and conducting tissues

Key concepts to revise for plant physiology GK

  • Xylem carries water and minerals upward, while phloem carries food made in the leaves
  • Transpiration is loss of water vapour, while translocation is the movement of food
  • Mimosa leaves fold because cells lose water and change shape, not because of growth
  • A shoot bends towards light because auxin collects on the shaded side and those cells grow longer
  • Lateral meristem increases girth, and intercalary meristem sits at leaf bases and internodes

Revision tips for statement and match-type questions

  • Make a table that links each hormone to its role, and each tropism to its stimulus
  • Practise putting processes in sequence, such as water moving from soil to leaf
  • Watch for swapped terms in statements, such as xylem and phloem, or apical and lateral meristem

Who this Level 3 plant physiology set suits

This set suits General Awareness aspirants who have finished the basics of plant biology and want harder statement, sequence and match-the-list practice.

FAQs about Plant Physiology – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 3

What is plant physiology?
Plant physiology is the branch of botany that studies how plants work. It covers processes such as photosynthesis, transport of water and food, respiration, growth and responses to stimuli.
What are the main plant hormones and their functions?
Auxin promotes cell elongation, and gibberellins help stems grow taller. Cytokinins promote cell division, while abscisic acid inhibits growth and is linked to the wilting of leaves.
What is the difference between transpiration and translocation?
Transpiration is the loss of water as vapour from the aerial parts of a plant, mainly through stomata. Translocation is the movement of food made in the leaves to other parts of the plant through phloem.
What is the difference between a tropism and the movement of Mimosa leaves?
A tropism is a directional growth movement in response to a stimulus such as light, gravity or water. The folding of Mimosa leaves on touch is not growth. It happens because cells lose water and change shape.
