Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 30-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 30 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Vitamins and Deficiency Diseases GK Quiz Level 2: Nutrition and Digestion

This Level 2 GK quiz develops your ability to link nutrients, enzymes and organs to their exact roles. It covers vitamin sources and vitamin loss in food, mineral and protein deficiencies, and how the alimentary canal digests and absorbs food. Aptitude360 includes an explanation for every question, across statement, match and odd-one-out formats.

Areas tested in the Level 2 vitamins set

  • Vitamins: sources of Vitamins A, C and D, and why washing vegetables after cutting or overcooking them loses nutrients
  • Deficiencies: symptoms of scurvy, rickets, beriberi and night blindness, effects of calcium, iron and iodine shortage, and effects of long-term lack of protein
  • Digestive juices: where salivary amylase, pepsin, bile and trypsin are produced, and the roles of hydrochloric acid and mucus
  • Digestion and absorption: end products of proteins, carbohydrates and fats, and the structure of villi
  • Nutrition modes: autotrophic, parasitic, insectivorous and symbiotic examples such as the pitcher plant and lichens

Key concepts for medium-level nutrition GK

  • Bile is made in the liver, makes acidic food from the stomach alkaline and breaks fats into droplets
  • Proteins break down into amino acids, and fats break down into fatty acids and glycerol
  • A balanced diet includes all nutrients in the right quantity, along with roughage and water
  • Villi increase the surface area for absorption and have a rich blood supply

How to prepare for the trickier formats

  • Build a chart of each juice, the organ that makes it and the nutrient it acts on
  • Read NOT-type questions slowly, since one swapped organ or vitamin makes a statement false
  • For odd-one-out items, first group the foods by the vitamin they supply

Who should take this set

It is meant for General Awareness learners who have revised the basics and want practice in statement, match and sequence questions on nutrition.

FAQs about Nutrition, Vitamins and Deficiency Diseases – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 2

What is the difference between kwashiorkor and marasmus?
Kwashiorkor is caused mainly by a long-term lack of protein in the diet. Marasmus results from a lack of both carbohydrates and proteins, which leads to severe wasting of the body.
Why should vegetables be washed before cutting?
Washing after cutting lets water-soluble vitamins and minerals drain away from the cut surfaces. Washing whole vegetables first keeps more of these nutrients.
What is the function of bile in digestion?
Bile is produced by the liver and stored in the gall bladder. It makes the acidic food from the stomach alkaline and breaks large fat globules into small droplets so that enzymes can digest them.
What is the role of hydrochloric acid in the stomach?
Hydrochloric acid kills many bacteria that enter with food. It also makes the stomach acidic so that pepsin can digest proteins, while mucus protects the stomach lining from the acid.
