Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 25-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 25 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Nutrition and Vitamins GK Quiz Level 1: Food Tests, Digestion and Deficiencies

Level 1 of the Nutrition, Vitamins and Deficiency Diseases GK series is a basics-first Biology set on how living things get food and how humans digest it. It also covers vitamins and the deficiency diseases linked to them. Aptitude360 has added a clear explanation for every question.

What this Level 1 nutrition quiz covers

  • Modes of nutrition: autotrophs and heterotrophs, and how Amoeba and Paramoecium take in food
  • Components of food: body-building proteins, energy-rich fats and roughage
  • Food tests: iodine test for starch, copper sulphate and caustic soda test for protein, and the oily patch test for fat
  • Digestion: saliva, gastric juice, mucus, bile, pancreatic enzymes, villi and the large intestine
  • Vitamins and minerals: sources of Vitamins A, C and D, and diseases such as beriberi, scurvy, rickets, night blindness, goiter and anaemia

Core nutrition facts to learn first

  • The small intestine is the longest part of the alimentary canal
  • Bile comes from the liver and breaks fats into smaller droplets
  • Vitamin C is easily destroyed by the heat of cooking
  • Lack of iron causes anaemia, and lack of iodine causes goiter

Study tips for vitamins and digestion basics

  • Learn each vitamin in three parts: its sources, its role and its deficiency disease
  • Trace food from mouth to large intestine and name the juice or enzyme at each stop
  • Write down what each food test looks like when the result is positive

Who this set is for

It suits General Awareness beginners who want a strong base in human nutrition before moving to the harder levels.

FAQs about Nutrition, Vitamins and Deficiency Diseases – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 1

Which vitamin is destroyed by cooking?
Vitamin C is easily destroyed by the heat of cooking. Amla, guava and citrus fruits are good sources, so eating some of them raw helps.
Which vitamin does the body make from sunlight?
The body makes Vitamin D when the skin is exposed to sunlight. Vitamin D helps the body use calcium, and its deficiency causes rickets.
What causes goiter?
Goiter is caused by a lack of iodine in the diet. The thyroid gland in the neck swells, and using iodised salt helps prevent it.
What is roughage and why is it important?
Roughage is the fibre in food. It gives no nutrients but adds bulk to food, which helps the body get rid of undigested food.
