Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 40-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 40 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

  • Keep in rotation: Probability and Triangles, a steady 15% that rewards regular practice once the first group feels comfortable.
  • Leave for last: 12 topics appear only once, about 44% in total. Revise them from short notes after the topics above are solid.
  • Splitting your study time: out of every 10 study sessions on this section, about 4 for the first group, 2 for the keep-in-rotation group and 4 for the leave-for-last group.

Key formulas and rules for this IPMAT quant set

  • Sum of an AP: \( S_{n}=\dfrac{n}{2}\left[2a+(n-1)d\right] \)
  • Change of base: \( \log_{a}b=\dfrac{\log_{c}b}{\log_{c}a} \)
  • Triangle inequality: \( |b-c| \lt a \lt b+c \)
  • Factors of \( p^{a}q^{b}r^{c} \): \( (a+1)(b+1)(c+1) \)

FAQs about IPMAT Indore 2022 Quantitative Ability (MCQ) PYQs

How to find the number of factors of a number
Write the number as a product of prime powers, add one to each exponent and multiply the results. A factor is a perfect square only when every prime in it has an even exponent.
What is the triangle inequality rule
Any side of a triangle must be shorter than the sum of the other two sides and longer than their difference. If this fails, the three lengths cannot form a triangle.
How to check if three lines are concurrent
Solve any two of the lines to find their point of intersection, then substitute that point into the third line. If it satisfies the third equation, the three lines pass through one point.
How to arrange letters so that no two vowels come together
First arrange the consonants, dividing by factorials for any repeated letters. Then choose gaps between and around the consonants for the vowels, and arrange the vowels in those gaps, again adjusting for repeats.
