Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 35-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 35 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Harappan Civilisation Level 3 Quiz: Hard Indus Valley GK Practice

Level 3 is a hard Indus Valley Civilisation GK quiz on Aptitude360, built almost entirely from multi-statement, list-matching and chronology questions. It tests precise details of excavations, site locations, crafts, raw materials, religion and scholarly views on rulers and decline. A single wrong word in a statement often decides the answer.

Areas examined in the hard Indus Valley set

  • Discovery history, from railway engineers using bricks from an old mound to Marshall's announcement
  • Site matching: Nageshwar, Banawali, Dholavira and Lothal with their known finds
  • Raw materials and their sources, such as gold and lapis lazuli
  • Harappan objects matched with materials like bronze, faience and terracotta
  • Rival scholarly views on who ruled the Harappan cities
  • Causes and aftermath of decline, including movement to new settlements

Key concepts for advanced Harappan questions

  • Exact find spots of famous objects, for instance the Dancing Girl at Mohenjodaro
  • Contemporary civilisations such as Mesopotamia and Old Kingdom Egypt
  • The Citadel's raised platform and the surviving base of the warehouse
  • Relative sizes of settlements like Mohenjodaro and Chanhudaro
  • Dholavira's location on Khadir Beyt in the Rann of Kutch and its three-part plan

Revision tips for UPSC-style Harappan statements

  • Check whether a find belongs to Harappa or Mohenjodaro.
  • Build one timeline joining Harappan phases with modern discovery milestones.
  • Learn each theory of rule and decline as a view, not as settled fact.

Who this Level 3 set is for

This set is meant for UPSC and state PSC aspirants who have finished the easier levels of this series and want to test fine detail.

FAQs about Indus Valley Civilisation – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 3

Why did the Indus Valley Civilisation decline?
There is no single agreed cause. Scholars suggest climate change, deforestation, floods, shifting or drying rivers and the breakdown of a unifying authority, possibly acting together.
Which Harappan site was divided into three parts?
Dholavira, on Khadir Beyt in the Rann of Kutch, Gujarat, was divided into three parts, while most Harappan cities had two. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021.
Where did the Harappans get lapis lazuli and other raw materials?
Lapis lazuli came from Afghanistan and carnelian from Gujarat. Copper was obtained from Rajasthan, and gold was probably brought from south India.
Was the Indus Valley Civilisation contemporary with Mesopotamia?
Yes, the Harappan civilisation flourished at the same time as Mesopotamia and traded with it. Mesopotamian texts probably refer to the Harappan region as Meluhha.
