Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 30-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 30 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Ecology and Environment GK Quiz Level 2: Energy Flow, Biomagnification, Ozone

This Level 2 set builds the reasoning behind ecology facts: why energy moves one way through trophic levels, why food chains stay short and why pesticides concentrate at the top. It also tests ozone depletion, CFCs and waste types. On Aptitude360 these appear as statement, match, sequence and odd-one-out questions, with explanations for all.

Topics tested in this Level 2 environment quiz

  • Abiotic versus biotic components and the roles of producers, consumers and decomposers
  • Trophic levels, food webs and the herbivore and carnivore positions in pond and land chains
  • Energy captured by green plants and the average transfer rule between levels
  • Path of a pesticide from crops into water, plants, animals and humans
  • Ozone structure, its UV shield, CFC uses and the UNEP agreement on CFC production
  • Biodegradable substances and problems with plastic bags

Concepts that application questions build on

  • Applying the energy transfer rule to estimate energy reaching the next level
  • Ordering events correctly: decomposition stages, trophic sequence, ozone timeline
  • Spotting the odd one out among abiotic factors, consumers or waste types
  • Explaining why pesticide residues appear in grains, vegetables and fruits

Preparation tips for ecology statement questions

  • Learn the ozone story in order: CFC use, ozone thinning, then the UNEP agreement to freeze CFC production
  • Practise simple energy calculations across trophic levels until they become automatic
  • Revise biological magnification as a cause and effect chain, not as isolated facts

Who this Level 2 set suits

General Awareness aspirants who have finished the ecology basics and want practice with the multi-statement and matching formats seen in competitive exams.

FAQs about Ecology and Environment – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 2

How does energy flow in an ecosystem?
Energy flows in one direction, from the Sun to producers and then to successive consumers. Energy that passes to one level does not return to the previous level.
How much energy passes from one trophic level to the next?
On average, only about one tenth of the energy at one trophic level reaches the next. Most of the rest is lost as heat, which is why food chains usually have only three or four steps.
What are biodegradable and non-biodegradable substances?
Biodegradable substances, such as vegetable peels and paper, are broken down by biological processes like the action of bacteria and fungi. Non-biodegradable substances, such as plastics and some pesticides, are not broken down this way and persist in the environment.
Why were CFCs harmful to the environment?
Chlorofluorocarbons, once used in refrigerants and fire extinguishers, were linked to the depletion of the ozone layer. UNEP brought about an international agreement to freeze their production.
