Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 120-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 120 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

CLAT 2022 Question Paper PYQ: All Five Sections with Detailed Solutions

This is the actual CLAT 2022 UG question paper, held on 19 June 2022, taken from the official question booklet and checked against the Consortium of NLUs' final answer key. Six questions (82, 89, 103, 108, 113 and 125) are left out because their official answers are disputed. Every other question has a worked solution.

Passages and topics in the CLAT 2022 PYQs

  • English Language: famous speeches and the power of public speaking (Chief Joseph, Churchill, Faulkner), how apps and technology both connect people and deepen loneliness (opening with Saroo's story), pioneers recognised only after death: Ignaz Semmelweis, Van Gogh and Kafka, cryptocurrencies as a Ponzi scheme, the uneven spread of fossil fuels across the Earth, and the modern animal rights movement
  • Current Affairs including GK: ISRO and India's space sector, the Home Ministry panel on AFSPA, the Russia-Ukraine war, green technology patents in India, unspent CSR funds, Drone Shakti and the Drone Rules 2021, and India's maritime vision: SAGAR, Sagarmala and the Navy's maritime strategy
  • Legal Reasoning: writs, secularism and freedom of religion, reasonable restrictions on fundamental freedoms, bigamy, special marriages and divorce by mutual consent, monism and dualism in international law, sustainable development, and mistake of fact in contracts
  • Logical Reasoning: why students go to college and the stress they face, online teaching during COVID-19, the UN plan to halt biodiversity loss, the POCSO Act and teenage relationships, a judge's suggestion of a duty to laugh, and India's reliance on fossil fuels
  • Quantitative Techniques: students' choice of streams by gender in a college, production and turnover of a company's five products, and department-wise employees with their gender ratios
