Before you launch the test

This is the computer-based test format, not a quiz page: one clock, a question palette, and no way back once a section closes. Read these first.

  • It runs in full screen. The test takes over the screen when it starts, the way the real computer-based test does.
  • Leaving it is counted. Switching away is recorded and warned about; the third time, the paper is submitted for you.
  • The clock runs for 120 minutes. Set aside that long, uninterrupted. It starts when you begin, keeps running if you close the tab, and submits the paper at zero.
  • 3 timed sections. Each section has its own limit, and a section you have finished cannot be returned to.
  • On-screen calculator. The test provides one. Nothing else is needed, and nothing else is allowed.

About this test

CAT Mock Test 8: VARC, DILR and QA Practice Paper with Solutions

CAT Mock Test 8 is a full-length CAT practice paper testing reading comprehension and verbal ability, data interpretation and logical reasoning sets, and quantitative aptitude. Aptitude360 built it around argument-heavy passages, multi-part DILR sets and arithmetic, number system and algebra problems. Written solutions are given for every question.

What CAT Mock Test 8 covers, section by section

  • VARC: passages on trust in maps, why standards resist change, translating poetry and automatic pension enrolment, summary questions, para-jumbles and odd sentence out
  • DILR: a team badminton championship, an exam timetable with scheduling rules, a number-tile board puzzle and a stock-price line chart with trades
  • QA: syrup mixtures, partial variation in costs, travel with a shared car, a pipe with a leaking tank, relative speed of trains, profit with returns, salary allowances, averages, digit sums, HCF and divisors, probability of digit arrangements and roots of quadratics

Key CAT concepts this paper draws on

  • Identifying the central idea and the author's stance in passages
  • Finding the opening sentence and logical links in para-jumbles
  • Building a points table or schedule grid from tournament and timetable rules
  • Common factors of numbers of the form two raised to a power minus one
  • Using the sum and product of roots in quadratic problems

Revision tips for VARC, DILR and QA

  • Practise translating DILR conditions into tables or grids before deducing anything
  • In summary questions, reject options that add details or opinions missing from the passage
  • For three-way mixture problems, write one equation per pair before solving them together

Who this CAT mock suits

It suits CAT aspirants in the mock phase who have covered the syllabus and want to work on question selection and accuracy across sections.
