Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 35-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 35 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

Budget, Fiscal Policy and GST GK Practice Quiz Level 3 for Indian Economy

This Level 3 quiz tests advanced General Awareness on the Indian Budget, fiscal policy, direct and indirect taxes and the Goods and Services Tax. It covers the constitutional Articles on finance and GST, deficit calculations, how budget items are classified and the sequence of fiscal reforms. Aptitude360 explains the answer to every question.

Topics covered in this Budget and GST set

  • Constitutional Articles on the Annual Financial Statement, Money Bills, the GST Council and inter-state GST
  • Revenue and capital receipts, and revenue and capital expenditure
  • Calculating fiscal, primary and revenue deficit from given figures
  • Allocation, redistribution and stabilisation functions of the budget

  • GST Council membership and functions, IGST, CGST, SGST and UTGST, and items kept outside GST
  • Chronology of the FRBM Act, the GST constitutional amendment and the GST rollout

Key fiscal concepts to revise for Level 3

  • Fiscal deficit is total expenditure minus revenue receipts and non-debt capital receipts
  • Primary deficit is fiscal deficit minus interest payments, so the two are equal when interest is nil
  • A capital receipt either creates a liability or reduces an asset, as borrowing and disinvestment do
  • Supplies within a state generally attract CGST and SGST, those within Union Territories without a legislature attract CGST and UTGST, and inter-state supplies attract IGST
  • The burden of a direct tax cannot be shifted to another person

Revision tips for budget and tax questions

  • Practise deficit sums by writing each formula first and then substituting the figures
  • Keep a table matching each finance-related Article with its subject
  • Place the FRBM and GST milestones on one timeline to answer ordering questions

Who should take this GK set

This set suits aspirants who have finished the earlier levels of this Indian Economy series and want statement-based and match-the-list practice on public finance.

FAQs about Budget, Fiscal Policy, Taxes and GST – GK Quiz with Answers – Level 3

What is the difference between fiscal deficit and primary deficit?
Fiscal deficit is total expenditure minus revenue receipts and non-debt capital receipts. Primary deficit is fiscal deficit minus interest payments, so it shows the borrowing needed for spending other than interest.
Who is the chairperson of the GST Council?
The Union Finance Minister chairs the GST Council. Its members include the Union Minister of State in charge of Revenue or Finance and the Minister in charge of Finance or Taxation, or another minister, nominated by each state government.
Is disinvestment a capital receipt?
Yes. Selling shares of public sector companies reduces the government's assets, so the money received is a capital receipt.
Is GST a direct or indirect tax?
GST is an indirect tax because its burden can be passed on to the final consumer. Income tax and corporation tax are direct taxes.
