Quiz Details
This section determines the high percentiles in SNAP, as it tests the ability to pick "sitter" questions amidst calculation-intensive ones. In Slot 1 of the 2024 exam, the section featured 20 questions with a surprise focus on higher math rather than standard commercial arithmetic.
Syllabus & Core Topics:
Modern Math (Dominant): A massive chunk of nearly 8 questions, featuring Permutation & Combinations (3 Qs), Probability (2 Qs), and Progressions (AP/GP).
Arithmetic: Essential but lengthy, covering Time, Speed & Distance (e.g., "50% speed increase leads to 6 mins less"), Profit & Loss, and Ratios (e.g., "Sum of x+y+z=850").
Geometry & Mensuration: 3-4 conceptual questions, including a tricky problem about a "Ball inside a hollow cylinder" and finding the "Radius of a 3rd circle touching two others."
Number System: Questions on divisibility, such as finding the "Sum of numbers between 569 and 1024 divisible by 3 and 7."
Data Interpretation (DI): Notably absent in this slot, with the section behaving almost entirely as a pure Quantitative Ability test.
Exam Pattern & Marking:
Total Questions: 20.
Scoring: +1 mark for a correct answer, -0.25 marks for an incorrect answer.
Key Challenge: The "None of the above" option appeared frequently, increasing doubt and time consumption. A good attempt was considered 12–13 questions.
