Selection Process

Final Selection in JIPMAT 2027

JIPMAT follows a merit-based admission process where IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya release their individual merit lists, followed by subsequent waiting lists.

IIM Jammu

IIM Jammu releases its merit list based on a composite score, which is calculated as follows:

  • JIPMAT Score: 70%
  • Class 10th Marks: 15%
  • Class 12th Marks: 15%
  • Gender Diversity: Female candidates receive an additional 5% weightage (or 5 marks) toward their final score.

IIM Bodh Gaya
IIM Bodh Gaya relies solely on the JIPMAT score for its merit list and does not use a bonus point system. Instead, they reserve 30% of their seats specifically for female candidates (Supernumerary Girls seats) to ensure gender diversity.

Frequently Asked Questions

JIPMAT, or the Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test, is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for the 5-year Integrated Programme in Management at IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya. One exam gives you access to two separate IIM merit lists, making it one of the most efficient exam attempts in the IIM undergraduate space. Students admitted through JIPMAT earn a dual degree — BBA followed by MBA — over five years, with an exit option available after three years under specific academic conditions. The official exam portal is jipmat.nta.ac.in.

Yes. JIPMAT is open to students from all streams — Science, Commerce, and Arts — and across all boards including CBSE, State Boards, IGCSE, and IB. There is no requirement to have studied Mathematics in Class 12. The eligibility conditions are straightforward: a minimum of 60% in both Class 10 and Class 12 for General category candidates, 55% for SC/ST/PwD candidates, and an age below 20 years at the time of admission. Students currently appearing for their Class 12 board exams may also apply, provided their results are available before the final admission process.

Yes, and this is one of the most distinctive features of IIM Jammu's selection process. The composite score is calculated as: JIPMAT Score 70%, Class 10th Marks 15%, and Class 12th Marks 15%. Additionally, female candidates receive an extra 5% weightage (or 5 marks) added to their final composite score. This means students with strong board results have a meaningful advantage in the IIM Jammu merit list, even if their JIPMAT score is marginally lower than other candidates.

Yes, the two institutes use entirely different selection formulas. IIM Bodh Gaya relies solely on the JIPMAT score — Class 10 and Class 12 marks are not factored into its merit list at all. Instead of a score bonus, IIM Bodh Gaya ensures gender diversity by reserving 30% of its seats as Supernumerary seats exclusively for female candidates. This means female students can access these additional seats over and above the general pool, rather than competing within a reduced general category pool.

JIPMAT offers the strongest gender diversity benefits among all IIM UG entrance exams. At IIM Jammu, female candidates receive an additional 5% weightage in the composite score calculation, directly improving their merit list rank. At IIM Bodh Gaya, 30% of seats are reserved supernumerarily for girls, meaning these seats are added on top of the regular intake and do not reduce the number of seats available to other candidates. If you are a female student targeting an IIM seat after Class 12, JIPMAT should be a non-negotiable part of your exam portfolio.

Very practical — in fact, it is one of the most efficient combined preparation strategies available. Both exams cover the same three sections: Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation, and Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension. The syllabus overlap across all three sections is extremely high. The key differences are operational: JIPMAT has 100 questions in 150 minutes while IPMAT Rohtak has 120 questions in 120 minutes. JIPMAT is conducted by NTA and IPMAT Rohtak by IIM Rohtak directly. A student preparing for both simultaneously is essentially running one preparation cycle for two IIM admission opportunities across three institutes — IIM Jammu, IIM Bodh Gaya, and IIM Rohtak.
