Selection Process

Final Selection in IIMK BMS AT 2027

The IIMK BMS-AT follows a merit-based admission process where IIM Kozhikode releases a shortlist; following this, students undergo a Personal Interview (PI). The shortlist is based on the IIMK BMS-AT test score, Class 12th score and  class 10th score with a weightage of 40%, 30% and 30% respectively. For this stage, the overall cutoff is the deciding factor, and no sectional cutoffs are taken into consideration.
IIM Kozhikode releases its final merit list based on a composite score, which is calculated as follows:

  • BMS-AT Score: 70%
  • Personal Interview (PI): 25%
  • Gender Diversity: 5%

Frequently Asked Questions

IIMK BMS-AT, or the IIM Kozhikode Bachelor of Management Studies Aptitude Test, is a national-level computer-based entrance exam for admission to IIM Kozhikode's 4-year undergraduate programme: Bachelor of Management Studies (Honours with Research) with a Major in Management. The programme is hosted at the Kochi Campus and was launched in 2025 for the 2026-2030 academic cycle. Students can choose from stackable Minors including Economics & Public Policy, AI & Machine Learning, Psychology & Behavioural Sciences, Finance & Big Data, and Marketing, Sales & Digital Promotion. There is an exit option after 3 years with a Bachelor's degree. Full programme details are available at iimk.ac.in/academics/bms.

Yes. Candidates with a valid JEE (Mains), SAT, or ACT score are fully exempted from appearing for the BMS-AT and can apply directly to the programme. This is a unique feature not available in any other IIM UG programme. It is particularly useful for PCM students who appeared for JEE but are now exploring a management path, as their existing score becomes a direct admission qualifier. One important note: IPMAT scores are not accepted as a substitute — only JEE Mains, SAT, and ACT qualify for the exemption.

There is no upper age limit for IIMK BMS-AT — it is the only IIM undergraduate programme with this feature. Every other IIM UG exam, including IPMAT Indore, IPMAT Rohtak, JIPMAT, and IIMB UGAT, enforces a 20-year age cap for General category candidates. BMS-AT places no such restriction. Gap-year students, repeat aspirants, and candidates who missed the age window for other IIM UG exams can apply without any age-related barrier, provided they meet the minimum academic percentage requirements.

The programme fee is Rs. 7,00,000 per annum, covering tuition, course materials, and administrative costs. Over four years, the total estimated cost is approximately Rs. 28.5 lakh, excluding hostel and mess charges. Additional expenses include international exchange visits, study tours, industry visits, projects, and internships — these are not included in the base fee. When planning finances, factor in accommodation costs separately as the programme is residential at the Kochi Campus. Government of India reservation norms apply, and Merit-cum-Means scholarships may be available — check the official programme page for details.

Three differences stand out. First, degree type: IPMAT Indore and JIPMAT lead to a 5-year BBA+MBA dual degree with MBA-level placements. BMS-AT leads to a 4-year BMS (Hons.) — a strong undergraduate degree, but most students will need a separate PG programme for equivalent corporate entry. Second, BMS-AT has no age limit and a JEE/SAT/ACT exemption, which no other IIM UG exam offers. Third, BMS-AT has only 2 exam sections vs 3 in IPMAT and JIPMAT, with no LR section, making the preparation path noticeably different. IIM Kozhikode is among India's top-ranked IIMs, which makes the brand value strong despite the programme being new.

BMS-AT is open to students from all streams — Science, Arts, and Commerce — across all boards including CBSE, State Boards, IGCSE, and IB. There is no stream restriction and no requirement to have studied Mathematics in Class 12, unlike IIMB UGAT which mandates Maths as a subject. The eligibility conditions are: minimum 60% in both Class 10 and Class 12 for General candidates (55% for SC/ST, 40% for PwD), and documents must be producible by August 1, 2026. PCM students with JEE scores get the added advantage of exam exemption, but non-Maths students are equally eligible to appear for the exam.
