Normal practice, or a Simulated test

Both use the same questions. Normal practice is untimed and needs no account: choose an option and the answer and solution appear at once. The Simulated test is the real computer-based format, with one 20-minute clock, a question palette and full screen, and your score, the key and the solutions arrive when you submit.

How the two modes differ
No account needed

Normal

Untimed

Every question on one page, loading as you scroll. Choose an option and see straight away whether it was right.

  • No timer. Nothing to start and nothing to submit. Stop whenever you like.
  • Answered as you choose. Tap an option and it is marked at once, with the correct answer shown.
  • Solutions in place. The explanation, and the video where one has been added, sit under the question.
  • Open to guests. Normal practice needs no sign-in.
Real exam conditions

Simulated

Timed CBT

The computer-based test format: one clock, a question palette, and a score the moment you submit.

  • A clock that does not pause. 20 minutes from the moment you begin, and the paper is submitted for you when it reaches zero.
  • Question palette. Answered, not answered and marked for review, section by section, as the real interface has it.
  • Full screen, proctored. The test takes over the screen; leaving it three times submits the paper.
  • Answers hidden until you submit. The key, the explanations and your score all arrive together at the end.

About this test

PU MET 2022 Numerical Ability PYQ: Number Theory and Arithmetic Solved

This set is the Numerical Ability section of the official PU MET 2022 paper, the management entrance test of Panjab University. It blends number properties, algebraic manipulation, series and custom operators with applied arithmetic such as interest, discounts, ages and pipes. Aptitude360 gives a detailed worked solution for every question.

Topics in the PU MET 2022 Numerical Ability section

  • Surds and simplifying sums of powers of two
  • Place value, digit-based numbers and divisibility by nine
  • Number series with shrinking differences
  • Operators defined by a custom rule
  • LCM with a common remainder and divisibility among three numbers
  • Averages of distinct integers and consecutive-integer equations
  • Ages, trains crossing a bridge and early-late distance problems
  • Simple and compound interest, successive discounts, pipes and percentage change in a square

Key formulas for PU MET Numerical Ability

  • CI minus SI over two years: \( P\left(\dfrac{r}{100}\right)^{2} \)
  • Successive discounts: \( SP=P\left(1-\dfrac{x}{100}\right)\left(1-\dfrac{y}{100}\right) \)
  • Two pipes together: \( T=\dfrac{ab}{a+b} \)
  • Train crossing a bridge: \( t=\dfrac{L_{1}+L_{2}}{v} \)
  • Same remainder r for all divisors: \( N=k\times\text{LCM}+r \)

Revision tips for this numerical section

  • Bring all speeds and lengths to the same units before solving train questions
  • Use the digit-sum test to find remainders on division by nine
  • For custom operators, substitute carefully and evaluate inner brackets first
  • When a square depends on a percentage rise, multiply the growth factors rather than adding percentages

Who should practise this set

PU MET aspirants and other MBA entrance candidates who have finished the basics and want real exam-level number and arithmetic practice, including students preparing with Aptitude360 in Sector 34A, Chandigarh.

FAQs about PU MET 2022 Numerical Ability Previous Year Questions with Detailed Solutions

What is the difference between compound interest and simple interest for two years?
For two years, the difference equals the principal multiplied by the square of the rate expressed as a fraction of one hundred. It arises because compound interest also earns interest on the first year's interest.
How to find the remainder when a number is divided by 9?
Add the digits of the number and divide that sum by nine. The remainder is the same as for the original number.
How are successive discounts calculated?
Apply each discount one after another to the already reduced price, not to the original price. Two successive discounts always total less than their simple sum.
How do you find the least number that leaves the same remainder for several divisors?
Every such number is a multiple of the LCM of the divisors plus the common remainder. The remainder itself is the smallest such number, so LCM plus the remainder is the least answer only when the number must exceed every divisor.

Marking & rules

Total marks
20 across 20 questions.
Negative marking
A wrong answer costs marks. Leaving a question unanswered costs nothing.
Attempts
100 in total. An attempt is spent the moment you begin one.

What you get when you submit

The analysis is ready the moment you submit the paper.

Score and accuracy

Marks, percentage, right, wrong and skipped, and the time you took.

Section by section

The same figures for each section, so a weak one cannot hide in an average.
