Age Limit: Maximum 20 years as of July 31, 2027 (General/EWS/OBC-NCL). SC/ST/PwD candidates get a 5-year relaxation, maximum age of 25 years.

Key point: Sectional time limits are strictly enforced, you cannot switch between sections. Verbal Ability carries the highest marks (180 out of 360). The Short Answer QA section has no negative marking, which is a meaningful advantage.

• Round 1 — IPMAT Examination: Candidates must clear both sectional and overall cutoffs. Failing even one sectional cutoff leads to elimination regardless of total score.
• Round 2 — Aptitude Test Score (ATS): Raw marks are scaled section-wise. Shortlisting for interviews is based on ATS ranking. Maximum ATS = 100.

Open to all streams. Minimum 60% in Class 10 and 12 (General); 55% for SC/ST; 40% for PwD. Age limit: under 20 years for General; 22 years for SC/ST/PwD.

Mathematics is mandatory: You must have studied Mathematics in Class 12. Students from Commerce or Arts without Maths are not eligible. This is the only exam among the five with this requirement.

What sets this apart: The QA+DI section carries 50% of total marks and goes up to Class XII Mathematics — including Calculus — which no other exam covers. If you are from a PCM background, this is a genuine advantage. Cohort size is only 40 students per programme, among the smallest in this list.

Selection Process for IIMB UGAT

UGAT follows a merit-based process. Shortlisting is based solely on the overall UGAT score (no sectional cutoffs). Final merit list: UGAT Score 60% + Personal Interview 40%.

Annual fee: Rs. 8.5 lakh per annum for the first two years. Fee for Years 3 and 4 will see a significant increase, plan accordingly.

Section 6: IIMK BMS-AT — The New Kid With Big Ambitions

IIM Kozhikode launched its Bachelor of Management Studies (Honours with Research) in 2025 for the 2026–2030 cycle, and it comes with some genuinely interesting design choices: no age limit, JEE/SAT/ACT score exemption, stackable Minors, and a Kochi campus. It is the only programme among the five with absolutely no upper age limit.

Open to all streams. Minimum 60% in Class 10 and 12 (General); 55% for SC/ST; 40% for PwD. No upper age limit. Students currently in Class 12 may also apply.

JEE/SAT/ACT Exemption: Candidates with a valid JEE (Mains), SAT, or ACT score are exempted from the BMS-AT and can apply directly. Note that IPMAT scores are not accepted here.

Exam Pattern for IIMK BMS

Shortlist based solely on BMS-AT score. Final composite: BMS-AT Score 60% + Personal Interview 40%. PI is held in 7 cities: Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai, and New Delhi. Each interview is approximately 15 minutes.

1. Quantitative Aptitude (All 5 Exams)

This is the backbone of every exam. Key topics: Arithmetic (percentages, ratios, profit-loss, time-speed-distance), Algebra (linear and quadratic equations), Geometry and Mensuration, Permutation and Combination, Probability, Data Interpretation (tables, graphs, charts, caselets). For IIMB UGAT specifically, also cover Calculus and Statistics at the Class XII level.

2. Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (All 5 Exams)

Practise RC passages daily using quality sources. Cover Grammar and Error Correction, Para-jumbles, Vocabulary in Context, and Sentence Completion. IPMAT Indore weighs Verbal the highest at 50% of total marks, do not neglect this section.

3. Logical Reasoning (Rohtak, JIPMAT, IIMB UGAT — Not Required for Indore & IIMK)

Seating Arrangements (linear and circular), Blood Relations, Coding-Decoding, Syllogisms, Statement-Assumption, Series Completion, Input-Output, Venn Diagrams. This section does not appear in IPMAT Indore or IIMK BMS-AT.
